Stormwater Management

Regulations at the federal, state, and local levels all require that stormwater management measures be implemented in order to address the stormwater quality and quantity issues associated with new development, redevelopment, and in some cases, existing development.

saylors plan1a smOmni is very well known for our work in the New Jersey stormwater management arena. We have given numerous seminars on the NJ Stormwater Management Regulations (the Rules), the permitting process, and green technologies that can be designed to treat stormwater runoff. The Rules refer to Best Management Practices (BMPs) that are set forth in the New Jersey Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual. As contributors to the Manual and leaders in the design of innovative BMPs, Omni's staff is uniquely qualified to design state-of-the-art BMPs, complying with the Rules related to a client's application, and doing so in a cost-effective manner. We are in continuous communication with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) on such issues, working with municipalities, counties, attorneys, developers and other permit holders throughout the state who consider us experts in our field. We have even been contracted for large watershed management studies by NJDEP because of their respect for our work and knowledge of our unbiased results. It is their respect for us that translates into action when we are seeking approval of our clients' projects. Also, we have given significant testimony before planning boards, zoning boards, and environmental commissions on stormwater management issues with quite successful results on extremely difficult projects.

092310 Holmdel VES RG 001 smOmni's staff can develop original site designs for low-impact developments that satisfy all regulatory requirements. Our approach to site planning for stormwater management is to integrate site design with stormwater engineering rather than adding stormwater design as an afterthought, as is so often done. The result is innovative stormwater engineering that satisfies all regulatory criteria in a manner that often saves money on construction and saves time by obtaining NJDEP approval within 90 days. Omni provides not only drainage engineering design and calculations, but also design and construction oversight for individual BMPs, such as constructed wetlands and bioretention facilities.
