Environmental MonitoringWhile Omni often performs surface water sample collection and testing in support of our water qualities studies, we also offer environmental monitoring services not connected with NPDES permit-related endeavors. Our capabilities include monitoring pollutant and contaminant levels in soil, ground water, surface water, and stormwater. Omni is experienced in collecting data at a particular site or in a particular area for both large and small undertakings. This can include only one or two sampling locations or dozens of them. We can collect samples over a brief time period to create a snapshot of the quality of water or soil, or devise a monitoring program that involves gathering data over a lengthy period of time to provide a long-term view of a site's soil or water quality. Some of our monitoring programs track pollutants to determine the effect of preventative measures that have been put into place, or to monitor the progress of efforts put into place to reduce or eliminate one or more pollutants. Others track pollutant levels to ensure that standards are not violated in situations that have the potential to trigger regulatory restrictions or fines. Some monitoring projects are simply part of an effort to create an inventory of an area's resources, complete with information on environmental quality. At times, it may be necessary for Omni to compile information from previous sampling that has been performed in order to provide the client with the information needed to make the applicable decisions. We integrate historical data with the results of the current sampling program to draw meaningful conclusions. Depending on the end use of the monitoring results, Omni can present findings in any number of formats. It is often useful to incorporate the data into one or more GIS figures to link the results with their corresponding locations and manage all the accumulated data in one place. The GIS allows the client and any other stakeholders to quickly get an idea of the implication of the monitoring program's results. We also provide results in database form, as well as presenting them in graphs or charts and completing any necessary forms, where appropriate.
